NRG Support the 10K Hip - Op ChallengeNRG Telecom are supporting Michael Scott - MD of NRG Telecom and the Chairman of Rochdale Roundtable on his 10k Hip-op Challenge.During the last 11 years I have suffered from the ability to walk distances and take part in social and sports activities. At the beginning of this year I was diagnosed with osteoarthritis of both the left and right hips. In July I had a major operation to have the right hip replaced. A comment made on my way to recovery “ I truly believe that anyone can achieve almost anything if they can first dream it, but then execute an action plan to make it real”. This stands out to me. As Chairman of Rochdale Roundtable and Roundtable being about putting something back into the community I have decided to do something that 2 months ago I would not even dreamt about. A 10K Walk to raise money for Charity. This is my ambition for this year and it will be a big achievement for me to complete the walk considering half a mile was all I could achieve before having the operation. Who knows what it will be next year.
The walk is all about raising money for the local charities that this year Roundtable are involved with. The Rochdale Hospice and Childer are two organisation we are supporting but I also wont to provide as much as I can to ROCHDALE children in need, children who have specific needs and need support. After the event we have kindly been offered to attend Littleborough Rugby Club at the back of Hollingworth Lake to cheer them on against Oldham, their local derby.
